Arsenal have held talks with Abdul Rahman Baba’s agent over a surprise transfer, according to Bild.
Three days ago, respected transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that agent Sascha Empacher met with Chelsea to negotiate the transfer of the youngster to Stamford Bridge.
But Bild reports that the Gunners have joined the race to sign the 20-year-old.
It is believed that the youngster fears that he will not play regularly if he joins Chelsea with Arsenal a preferred option.
Augsburg are determined to keep the player who has an estimated market value of £15m.
