Arsenal join Chelsea in race to sign £10.7m Serie A defender

By

Arsenal have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam.

The 24-year-old is one of the many Napoli players linked with a possible move away from the Serie A after the Partenopei replaced coach Rafa Benitez with Maurizio Sarri.

Speaking to Radio CRC. last week, brother and agent Samir revealed that the defender wants to stay at Napoli but that he is yet to meet with new coach Maurizio Sarri.

"In recent months there was some confusion at Napoli," the player's agent said last week.

"I'm not happy that coach Rafa Benitez left but a new adventure awaits him in Spain.

"Faouzi will be in Algeria tomorrow with the national team, at the moment my brother will continue at Napoli but if the president decides to take a different decision then we will of course discuss the future.

"I don't know [new coach Maurizio] Sarri very well and to be honest I don't know what his plans are."
